Allocation percentage calculator
Allocation Percentage Calculator
Enter a total amount and the percentage to allocate. See the allocated amount, what remains, or how far the plan exceeds 100%.
Allocated amount
300
25% of 1,200 allocates 300, leaving 900 (75%) unallocated.
Amount remaining
900
75% remaining

How it works
Allocate part of a total and track the balance
The allocated amount is a percentage of the total. The calculator then subtracts that amount and percentage from the full total so under-allocation, complete allocation, and over-allocation are explicit.
Formula
allocated amount = total × (allocation percentage ÷ 100)
Amount remaining = total − allocated amount. Percentage remaining = 100% − allocation percentage.
Worked example
- 1. Start with a total of 1,200 and an allocation of 25%.
- 2. Divide 25 by 100 to get the multiplier 0.25.
- 3. Multiply 1,200 by 0.25 to allocate 300.
- 4. 75% remains unallocated, equal to 900.
Reading the allocation status
- Within total: less than 100% is allocated, so a positive balance remains.
- Fully allocated: exactly 100% is allocated and the remaining amount is zero.
- Over-allocated: more than 100% is allocated, so the result shows the amount and percentage points over the total.
