How it works

Turn the commission rate into earnings

The calculator converts the commission percentage into a decimal multiplier, applies it to the sales amount, and then adds optional base pay to show total compensation.

Formula

commission = sales amount × (commission rate ÷ 100)

total compensation = base pay + commission

Use sales and base pay from the same commission period. For example, monthly sales should be paired with monthly base pay.

Worked example

  1. 1. Start with sales of 25,000 and a commission rate of 7.5%.
  2. 2. Divide 7.5 by 100 to get 0.075.
  3. 3. Multiply 25,000 by 0.075 to get 1,875 commission.
  4. 4. Add base pay of 2,000 for total compensation of 3,875.

What this result includes

  • Flat rate: one commission percentage is applied to the full sales amount.
  • Optional base pay: leave it blank when compensation is commission-only.
  • Gross amounts: taxes, deductions, returns, and chargebacks are not included.
